The Congress may have started its preparations for the Assembly elections in Rajasthan, but the state has been looking forward to witness the end of the dispute Ashok Gehlot and Sachin Pilot. A high-level meeting was recently held between Gehlot, Pilot, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi and Congress Organisation General Secretary KC Venugopal, following which Venugopal announced that both leaders left the decision to the party’s high. But the question in everyone’s mind is when this final decision might be taken.
After the meeting, held at Kharge’s residence, Pilot’s supporters claimed that a final decision would be taken following Rahul Gandhi’s return from his trip overseas. However, party leadership has been conspicuously silent even after Gandhi’s recent return. Those in Pilot’s camp also claim that the he will be made state president of the Rajasthan Congress and will receive a ticket from the party. According to political analysts, removing state president Govind Singh Dotasara will anger the Jat camp right before the elections.
