Rajya Sabha MP Kartikeya Sharma on Tuesday raised the issue of research performed by the Postgraduate Institutes of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) Chandigarh in the last year and its utility for  public.
In a written reply in the Upper House, the Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Dr Bharati Pravin Pawar, stated on Tuesday that PGIMER Chandigarh has been conducting research in recent times, including cancer diagnostics, neurological diseases, artificial intelligence, and rare diseases linked to genetic disorders.
The minister went on to say that ROTTO PGIMER has taken many initiatives to help the underprivileged, enhance the potential pool of donors, and encourage Organ Donation Transplantation for needed patients.
MP Kartikeya Sharma asked another question about the institute’s attempts to improve health-care outreach.
Responding to the question, the Health Minister went on to say that the Institute is putting a specific emphasis on tele-medicine through the implementation of the eSajeevani platform for the benefit of the population in order to improve the reach of health services. More than 90,000 Tele-consultations have been offered through Ayushman Bharat Health & Wellness Centres in partnership with the National Health Mission, Haryana.
