After registering a glorious win in the Rajya Sabha elections, newly-elected Rajya Sabha member Kartikeya Sharma conducted a mega roadshow in Ambala on Sunday. Post the roadshow, Kartikeya assured the people of Ambala that after becoming a Rajya Sabha MP, he will adopt Ambala on a priority basis. Expressing that though he reached Rajya Sabha as an MP from Haryana, Sharma asserted that Ambala will be his priority since he hails from the city. Committing to work for the youth, Sharma said that he will fight for people’s issues in Haryana, be it SYL or any other issue.

Sharma said that the people of Ambala have been aspiring for the Institute of Management and Technology (IMT) to be established in the city since the last decade. Expressing that he respects the sentiments of the people and has full faith that the BJP government will get IMT installed in Ambala, Sharma assured that he will raise the demand in Rajya Sabha and will also make personal efforts to ensure IMT is set up in Ambala.

When asked if he would be joining the BJP, Sharma responded that he has reached Rajya Sabha as an independent candidate and can remain independent, as per the legal provisions. At the same time, he added that since BJP supported him, he will also support BJP. Sharma further expressed he is influenced by the policies of PM Modi and ventured into politics only after being influenced by him.

Speaking about generating employment opportunities, Sharma said that there is more scope in private jobs than in government jobs. He said that he has been working to provide employment to the youth for the last 5 years and is confident that he will work with the central government to provide more employment opportunities for the youth. “Many companies have come into the education sector and are making a lot of money out of this business. However, we are working to provide free education to the people. Our target is that 1 lakh children should be provided with free education. It is our endeavour to provide free education to 50 thousand children from Haryana,” he added.

Taking a swipe at the Congress, Sharma stated that Congress has expressed no confidence in its MLAs as they were laid siege and placed under house arrest. He said, “either the Congress did not have faith in the MLAs or the MLAs did not believe in the policies of the Congress. In both cases, it is fatal for Congress. It has become clear that Congress does not have a mass base in Haryana. This is the reason that everyone voted to defeat Congress and made him win. Congress had a big defeat in the Rajya Sabha elections.” He added that if Congress plays with the sentiments of the people, then similar results will come out.

Sharma finally once again thanked BJP, JJP, INLD and other candidates for making him win and said that a new chapter would start for Haryana and its youth.
