The chief minister of Rajasthan, Ashok Gehlot, submitted his nomination on Monday for the Sardarpura Assembly seat, which will hold elections on November 25. November 6 is the deadline for submitting nominations. “People of the state are in the mood to repeat the government in Rajasthan,” Chief Minister Gehlot remarked to reporters in reference to the upcoming Rajasthan Assembly elections. Additionally, he claimed that since taking office as CM, the desert state—which was formerly referred to as a backward state—has changed.
“Earlier Rajasthan was known as a backward state but now it has changed. Today, Rajasthan has AIIMS, IITs, IIMs and other universities. When I became the CM for the first time, there were only 6 universities and now there are over 100 colleges…,” CM Gehlot added.
In its seventh list of 21 contenders, the Congress nominated state minister Shanti Dhariwal for the Kota North seat. Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot’s ally, Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation Chairman Dharmendra Rathore, was not given a ticket by the party in its Sunday list. Mahendra Singh Ralawata, a candidate from Ajmer North, was fielded by the Congress. Notably, the party’s disciplinary committee had issued notices to Dhariwal and Rathore, two of the three senior state leaders, for missing a state Congress Legislature Party meeting and holding a parallel meeting of MLAs during the party presidential elections last year.
