The Patiala House Court of Delhi expended the custodial remand of the accused Lalit Jha by 14 days on Friday. He was produced before the concerned court by the Special Cell of Delhi Police at the end of the remand period granted earlier last week by the same court. The court has extended custody of Lalit Jha till January 5, 2023.
Along with Lalit Jha, Manoranjan D, Sagar Sharma, Neelam Azad, Amol Shinde and Mahesh Kumawat were also arrested in the Parliament Security Breach Case. Reportedly, Manoranjan D and Sagar Sharma were arrested for jumping into the Lok Sabha hall from the visitor’s gallery and opening smoke cans to create a chaos while Neelam Azad and Amol Shinde were arrested for opening smoke canisters outside the Parliament building.
The incident took place on December 13. Kumawat allegedly contacted the main accused Jha and others through the Facebook group ‘Bhagat Singh Fan Page.’ Jha is accused of destroying evidence of the conspiracy.
Appearing for the Delhi Police, Public Prosecutor Akhand Pratap Singh further stated that a thorough investigation is necessary to uncover the larger conspiracy behind this well-planned attack. The police also sought his arrest to find out the real motive behind the attack and his connection with other enemy countries and terrorist organizations. The police will also confront all the accused against each other.
The Masterplan
Police officials confirmed that Jha disclosed that, all the accused individuals met several times to strategize the conspiracy before they executed it. Delhi Police further stated that Jha and the others planned this entire thing to create anarchy in the country and to compel the government to meet their demands.
Lalit Jha also destroyed the phones of all the accused people to hide the evidences of the conspiracy. He threw away the mobile phones on his way from Jaipur to Delhi. Earlier, two Deputy Commissioners interrogated Jha where he narrated the whole incident.
The interrogation threw light upon the planning. The preparations for the attack began months ago. Nobody can enter the premises of the Parliament without an entry pass so Lalit asked everyone who could arrange the passes so that his team mates could easily enter.
Along with this, two pair of shoes were made in special order as Lalit discovered that shoes do not get checked so they are perfect to hide the smoke cans. Lalit was continuously keeping an eye on the police movements and ongoing developments through news channels, as informed by the police officials.
Brief about the Attack
The security of the Parliament was compromised on the anniversary of the 2001 Parliament terror attack. The two accused individuals, Manoranjan D and Sagar Sharma jumped out of the visitor’s gallery into the Lok Sabha hall during Zero Hour. They released yellow gas from the canisters as they yelled anti-establishment slogans before the MPs overpowered them, leading to their arrest.
Meanwhile, Neelam Azad and Amol Shinde protested outside the Parliament with similar gas canisters. All the four people involved in the planning and execution of the conspiracy were arrested and sent to seven-day custody of Delhi Police Special Cell on Thursday.
