During his speech, he criticized the previous Congress-led UPA government, accusing them of compromising the nation’s territory and fueling divisive narratives. Modi also alleged that the Congress was attempting to sow discord by promoting a “north-south divide.” Additionally, he targeted Congress Rajya Sabha leader Mallikarjun Kharge for his ‘400 paar’ remark and referred to TMC leader Mamata Banerjee’s prediction that Congress might not secure more than 40 seats in the 2024 Lok Sabha election.

The Lower House concluded the Interim Budget exercise with the passage of the Finance Bill, 2024. Initially scheduled to conclude on February 9, the session has now been extended by a day till February 10, starting with President Droupadi Murmu’s address to the joint sitting of the two Houses on January 31.
