India’s star javelin thrower, Neeraj Chopra, will lead a strong team of 28 athletes at the upcoming Paris Olympics 2024. He won gold at the Tokyo Games and is the current world champion. Instead of competing in the Paris Diamond League, he’s getting ready for the big event in Paris.
Chopra, at 26, stands as a pillar of strength in a squad comprising 17 men and 11 women athletes. Among the notable names joining him are Asian Games champions Avinash Sable and Tejinderpal Singh Toor, alongside sprint hurdler Jyothi Yarraji. The men’s 4x400m relay team, which caused a stir by outpacing the USA at the World Championships, also promises thrilling performances with athletes like Muhammed Anas and Amoj Jacob.
The track and field events will unfold at the iconic Stade de France from August 1 to August 11. This edition of the Olympics introduces new dynamics with the marathon race walk mixed-relay event, though the men’s 50km race walk is notably absent from the programme.
