In a significant security development, the Indian Army apprehended a Pakistani national near the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district on Thursday. The individual, identified as Azhar Hussain, was intercepted by troops from the 9 Sikh Light Infantry near the Chakan Da Bagh area, officials confirmed.

Sources within the security forces revealed that Hussain is believed to be an associate of the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terror group. He was allegedly tasked with conducting a reconnaissance of the area to assess the alertness of Indian troops, potentially paving the way for terrorists across the border to infiltrate into Indian territory.

The 42-year-old Hussain is currently under interrogation, as authorities work to uncover the full scope of his mission and any additional threats. More details are expected to emerge as the investigation continues.

This incident highlights the ongoing security challenges along the LoC, a region fraught with frequent ceasefire violations and infiltration attempts. The Union government has reiterated its commitment to safeguarding the nation’s borders and ensuring the safety of its citizens in these high-risk zones.
