Imran Khan, the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), declined to respond to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) inquiries regarding ‘controversial’ social media posts from his X account, as per ARY News.

The FIA team went to Adiala Jail, where Imran Khan is currently detained, to question him about an alleged controversial post on his X account. However, Imran Khan declined to answer any questions from the FIA team without his legal team present.

The FIA requested Imran Khan’s refusal in writing before leaving the prison. Earlier, on May 31, Imran Khan also declined to respond to FIA queries.

The FIA Cybercrime Cell sent a letter seeking access to Imran Khan in jail to investigate a ‘controversial’ post from his social media X handle.

According to ARY News, the letter stated that anti-state propaganda was circulated through Imran Khan’s official social media account, targeting institutions, especially the Pakistan Army. The video posted on May 26 aimed to distort facts, incite rebellion among officers and soldiers, and create unrest within various state institutions.

The FIA notice had said that the post was “likely to cause fear or alarm in the public and may induce/provoke anyone to commit an offence against the state, state institution or public tranquillity,” Dawn reported.

The FIA Cybercrime Cell also highlighted that the video constitutes a direct infringement of the PICA Act 2016. They requested access to the PTI founder in prison for additional investigation.

On a previous Wednesday, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf contested the notices sent by the Federal Investigation Agency regarding a contentious post on former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s official account, as reported by Dawn News.

The notices, addressed to PTI leaders Barrister Gohar, Secretary General Omar Ayub, and spokesperson Raoof Hasan, mentioned an inquiry initiated concerning the “misuse” of Khan’s verified X account.
