Asaduddin Owaisi’s All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) has officially announced its involvement in Gujarat politics. In the coming Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation polls, the AIMIM will field its own candidates in the local body elections. Owaisi will visit Gujarat on February 4 and will campaign in Ahmedabad as well as in Bharuch. He will also hold a meeting with Chhotu Vasava of BTP in Bharuch.
Owaisi has appointed former Congress MLA Sabir Kabliwala as the Gujarat state president of AIMIM. Now, with the official entry of Owaisi’s AIMIM in the state, it has also been announced that before the Municipal Corporationelection, Owaisi will come to Ahmedabad for campaigning and will hold rallies. AIMIM will contest the elections in the state in alliance with ChhotuVasava of BTP. The AIMIM has expressed its firm determination to give the fourth option in Gujarat politics.
In this regard, the party’s state president Sabir Kabliwala said that the present BJP government has seriously neglected the development of Muslims, Dalits, tribals, the poor and backward areas, due to which people are still deprived of basic amenities. The Congress, on the other hand, failed to uplift the weaker sections of society when it was in power. Besides, the Congress has failed to raise the issues of the people even in Opposition. Given the current situation, the people of Gujarat need a strong leadership and options.
He further added that “our AIMIM party will contest in the forthcoming Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation elections in at least 15 wards in Bharuch on the basis of seat sharing in alliance with MLA Chhotu Vasava’s BTP party. Owaisi is also likely to hold rallies in Ahmedabad and Bharuch.
“We have announced the phone number today as part of the membership drive and the structure of the organization will be announced after the elections,” said Hamidbhai Bhatti, the party’s state general secretary.
