Udhampur designated ‘No Fly Zone’ ahead of PM Modi’s rally

As preparations intensify for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s upcoming public rally in support of BJP candidate Dr Jitendra Singh for the Udhampur-Kathua Parliamentary Constituency, the district administration has declared Udhampur as a ‘No Fly Zone’ in anticipation of the event.

Prime Minister Modi is scheduled to address the ‘Jan Ashirwad Maha Rally’ in Udhampur town on Friday, necessitating stringent security arrangements along the Jammu-Srinagar national highway and surrounding areas.

Deputy Commissioner of Udhampur, Saloni Rai, issued an order under Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC), imposing restrictions on aerial activities within the designated area. The ‘No Fly Zone’ status will be in effect from the present time until 5 pm on April 12, 2024.

This rally marks Prime Minister Modi’s third visit to Udhampur in the past decade and his second visit specifically related to Lok Sabha elections. Notably, the previous election rally held on November 28, 2014, at Battalwalian ground was instrumental in naming the venue ‘Modi Maidan’ due to its significance for BJP supporters.

A senior BJP functionary expressed optimism about the rally’s turnout, aiming to gather approximately two lakh attendees.

Prime Minister Modi is expected to arrive at the rally venue in the morning, deliver his address for about 45 minutes, and then depart to address three additional rallies across different parts of the country.

The enforcement of a ‘No Fly Zone’ and other security measures reflect the critical nature of the event and the meticulous planning underway to ensure a safe and successful gathering in Udhampur for Prime Minister Modi’s address.
