Two killed, 1 hurt in helicopter crash in Norway

A helicopter crash in western Norway on Tuesday claimed the lives of two persons while seriously injuring a third, according to authorities.

Northeast of Trondheim in the Verdal municipality, the accident happened in the middle of the morning.

The cause of the crash was not immediately known.

The shattered wreck was depicted in images published in Norwegian media as resting in a field under dense fog.

According to the website Flightradar24, two additional helicopters—one assigned to rescue efforts and the other an ambulance—were sent to the area.

No other information was immediately available, although Norwegian media reports reported that the helicopter that crashed had been leased.
