Snow-Kissed Skin: A Guide to Winter Skincare Prep

As winter blankets the world in a shimmering coat of snow, it brings a set of challenges for the skin. The biting cold and frosty wind has a way of wreaking havoc on our skin and sapping away the natural moisture of our skin. This often leads to our skin feeling tight, dull, and prone to irritation. However, with the right winter skincare routine, you can ensure that your skin remains radiant and healthy even in the coldest of temperatures. In this guide, Dheeraj Bansal, the founder of Recode Studios will share some of the effective ways you can prepare your skin for winter while keeping it nourished and hydrated.

Start the Routine with a Gentle Cleansing
During winter, start your skincare routine with a proper and gentle cleansing. However, it’s essential to choose a type of face wash that goes with every skin type and contains Niacinamide, Witch Hazel, Cucumber, and strawberry Extract. It will help your skin get a deep cleansing, purify and brighten it, and make you feel refreshed. While you cleanse your face, gently massage in a circular motion.

Hydrate Your Skin by Moisturising
Hydration is the key to combating winter dryness, and a high-quality moisturizer should be a staple in your winter skincare arsenal. Look for moisturizers that include ingredients like Vitamin E, Watermelon Seed extract, Almond Oil, Grape Seed Oil, Isopropyl Myristate, and more. These ingredients work together to lock in moisture, strengthen the skin’s natural barrier, and prevent water loss. To receive maximum benefit, spray it on your face from a distance of 15cm. For better coverage of spray, wait for 1-2 mins, allowing absorption on your skin. Consider using a thicker, more emollient moisturizer during the winter months to provide your skin with the extra nourishment it needs.

Lock-in the Moisturiser
Once you are done cleansing your face and have also properly moisturized your skin, it’s not time to seal in that moisture. Consider using a face oil that is rich in vitamins A, C, and E, fatty acids, and antioxidants, it helps provide an extra layer of protection against the cold. Apply the oil to your moisturizer to lock in hydration and prevent moisture from evaporating throughout the day.

End Your Skincare Routine with a Sunscream
Many people associate sunscreen with summer, but protecting your skin from the sun’s harmful rays is a year-round necessity. Snow can reflect UV rays and intensify the impact on your skin. Choose a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 50 and apply it every morning, even on cloudy days. It helps provide protection and prevention from the burning effect of UVA and UVB rays. Pay extra attention to exposed areas like your face, neck, and hands. Sunscreen not only protects your skin from sun damage but also helps maintain an even skin tone and prevents premature aging. Achieving snow-kissed skin during winter requires a thoughtful and nourishing skincare routine. And by including these into your daily routine you can protect your skin from the harsh winter elements and ensure a radiant and healthy complexion.
