Rajasthan’s Assembly sees surge in educated MLAs

The results of the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly elections are out. The BJP will form its government in the state with a complete majority. Out of the 200 seats in Rajasthan, where candidates have won, some legislators have secured significant victories, while others have won by a narrow margin. However, this time, the public has chosen its government with considerable thought. Examining the election results reveals that the electorate now shows more confidence in educated candidates. In the 16th Legislative Assembly, 9 candidates with doctorates and 45 postgraduate legislators have been elected. It is worth noting that out of the 1875 candidates who contested the assembly elections, a total of 199 have emerged victorious. Among them, 137 legislators have attained a graduate degree or higher education, constituting 69% of the winning candidates. In comparison, this figure was 60.30% in the 2018 assembly elections, indicating a more thoughtful voter choice this time.
