Rajasthan CM race still on as observers ignite speculations

The recent appointment of Mohan Yadav as the Chief Minister in Madhya Pradesh has sparked heightened speculation and anticipation among the prominent figures under discussion for a similar role in Rajasthan. This strategic move by the BJP has set the stage for a potential surprise candidate to emerge in Rajasthan. Drawing parallels with the developments in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, where legislators were given the opportunity to assume leadership roles, there is a growing sense that a similar pattern might unfold in Rajasthan.
However, the landscape in Rajasthan poses unique challenges as the pool of senior legislators is relatively limited. In this context, the potential return of former Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje has become a subject of consideration. The prospect of Raje being granted another opportunity has introduced an element of unpredictability, and this decision could potentially catch the attention of the party’s high command.
As per sources in Delhi, Vasundhara Raje has reportedly communicated to the high command, expressing her desire to be appointed as the Chief Minister for a one-year term, with subsequent considerations for resignation. The final decision on this matter rests with the high command. Drawing parallels with the recent developments in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, where women were not given the opportunity to lead, there is speculation that the high command might choose to break this trend and provide a chance for a woman leader in Rajasthan.
In terms of seniority, Vasundhara Raje is positioned at the top of the list, followed by Siddhi Kumari, Anita Bhadel, and Diya Kumari. The dynamics surrounding the potential selection of a woman leader in Rajasthan add an intriguing dimension to the unfolding political scenario, and the decision by the high command is eagerly awaited.
As discussions unfold regarding potential leadership in Rajasthan, the high command appears to be considering various options, including the possibility of introducing a new face from among the legislators. To facilitate this decision-making process, central observers are set to arrive in Jaipur on Tuesday. On this crucial day, a meeting of legislators is scheduled, during which the high command’s nominees, as suggested by the observers, will be officially announced. The impending announcement is poised to shape the political landscape in Rajasthan and determine the course of leadership within the state.
As the developments in Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh indicate a shift towards selecting a leader from among the legislators, names from both the legislative and non-legislative fronts are actively being discussed for the Chief Ministerial position in Rajasthan. Notable figures such as Central Ministers Ashwini Vaishnav, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, and Arjun Ram Meghwal are among the names in consideration. Additionally, legislators Kirori Lal Meena and Rajvardhan Rathore are part of the ongoing discussions. The emerging consensus suggests that the chosen candidate for the Chief Minister’s role will stake a claim to form the government from the Governor on Tuesday. If these indications hold, the swearing-in ceremony is anticipated to take place on the 15th of December in Rajasthan, following the ceremonies in Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh on the 13th and 14th, respectively.
