Raising law and order issue, Congress workers barge into Telangana Home Minister’s residence

Raising slogans against the Telangana government for allegedly deteriorating law and order condition in the state, NSUI and Youth Congress activists on Thursday held protests at Ministers’ quarters in Hyderabad.

Hundreds of NSUI and Youth Congress members squatted outside the Minister’s quarters located at Road no 12 in Banjara Hills.

Tension gripped when they suddenly barged into the premises and entered Home Minister Mahmood Ali’s house by opening the main gate. The police took more than 100 activists into custody.

The protesters demanded that the Telangana government should take measures in preventing crimes against women, including sexual assault, rape and murder.

Recently one employer attempted to rape a 13-year-old Dalit girl. He poured kerosene on her and set her ablaze.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao (KCR) said that Telangana, which is swiftly moving forward on the development path, is now the number one state in the country as far as the law and order situation is concerned.

The CM spoke at a meeting held in his home in Hyderabad which was attended by senior police officials.

The CM said that the Telangana government was laying more emphasis on women protection and the state police should put an extra effort in this regard.

He said there is a need to control and eradicate the sale and supply of banned substances like ganja, which are harming society especially the young generation.

KCR said it is unfortunate that incidents of atrocities against the Dalits are being reported from various parts of the country. KCR wanted that the society in the country should distance itself from such incidents.
