Rahul Gandhi, a congress leader from Wayanad, sent blessings to the people of Kerala on Tuesday in honor of the festival of Onam.
On the social networking platform X, formerly known as Twitter, he wrote, “Greetings to all on the joyous occasion of Onam! ” May this lovely celebration deepen our ties of peace and bring joy to everybody.”
Onam, a harvest festival, is observed in Chingam month, the first month of the Malayalam calendar. Onam festival attendees typically dress in kasavu saris and mundu (dhoti). It is a season when friends and family get together to exchange gifts.
There are processions, rituals, and performances held all around the state during the ten-day festival.
The festival of Onam, which commemorates Mahabali’s return to Kerala after his exile, is the start of the Malayalam calendar year.
