PM Modi Reviews Post-Cyclone Remal Situation in Northeastern States

Prime Minister Narendra Modi convened a meeting on Sunday to assess the aftermath of Cyclone Remal in the northeastern states. The cyclone led to over three dozen fatalities and widespread devastation, triggering flash floods, heavy rainfall, and landslides that affected more than two lakh people in the region.

During the meeting, PM Modi also discussed various topics, including a review of the new government’s first 100-day agenda and preparations for World Environment Day on June 5. Railway services have been disrupted due to submerged tracks, leading to the cancellation of trains bound for south Assam, Tripura, Manipur, and Mizoram by the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR).

Expressing condolences, PM Modi assured support to the affected states and emphasized the Centre’s commitment to monitoring and aiding recovery efforts. Meanwhile, exit polls indicate a significant victory for the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance in the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections, suggesting potential gains in opposition-held territories.

The seven-phase electoral process, spearheaded by PM Modi, concluded on June 1.
