Mumbai horrific killing: Vaidya committed suicide, claims accused live-in partner

The 56-year-old man in suburban Mumbai accused of murdering his live-in partner and slicing her body into pieces told police contradictory statements.

Manoj Sane first claimed that his partner, Saraswati Vaidya, committed suicide by swallowing poison on 3 June and that he was merely attempting to dispose of the body out of fear of being charged with abetment.

Sane attempted to dispose of the body by chopping it into so many pieces that the cops couldn’t identify them, then boiling some of them, roasting others, grinding some more in a mixer, and feeding them to stray dogs. To avoid the stink, the accused informed investigators he cooked the body pieces in a pressure cooker.

During the interrogation, Sane also stated that he had chosen to terminate his life after disposing of the body and has no regrets, according to ANI, citing police. Police said they are investigating his suicide allegation since they have reservations about it.

“Investigation is underway and the pieces of the body recovered from the house have been sent to JJ Hospital for postmortem. We have doubts about his claim of suicide,” police said.

Sane, on the other hand, later told authorities that the two of them had a dispute because he suspected her of cheating, and that he stabbed her with a knife and then hacked her up with an electric saw.

According to Jayant Bajbale, deputy commissioner of police in Mira-Bhayander, the police gathered Vaidya’s body parts in numerous polythene bags on Thursday and sent them to JJ Hospital for a post-mortem to determine the cause and time of her death.
