The National Centre for Seismology (NCS) reported that an earthquake measuring 3.7 on the Richter scale struck the Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday.
According to the NCS, the earthquake occurred at 4:44 pm at a depth of 10 km.
The NCS shared details of the earthquake on social media, stating, “Earthquake of Magnitude: 3.7, Occurred on 09-04-2024, 16:44:04 IST, Lat: 33.31 & Long: 76.72, Depth: 10 Km, Location: Kishtwar, Jammu and Kashmir.”
This seismic event comes shortly after another earthquake hit Kishtwar on April 7, measuring 3.5 on the Richter scale. No immediate reports of damage or casualties have been reported from either earthquake. The region continues to be monitored by authorities for any potential aftershocks or further seismic activity. Citizens are advised to stay alert and follow safety protocols in case of any emergency situations.
