Israel Criticizes German Decision to Resume Cooperation with UN Gaza Agency

The German government’s decision to continue working with UNRWA (the UN Relief Works Agency) in Gaza was deemed “unfortunate and disappointing” by Israel’s Foreign Ministry, which also stated that UNWRA is “part of the problem and not part of the solution.”

Israel sent comprehensive information about hundreds of Hamas military operators and several other operatives affiliated with the terrorist groups Islamic Jihad and Hamas—all UNRA employees—to Germany and other donor nations, the ministry claimed in a statement. “These are not some rotten apples – this is a rotten and poisoned tree.”

The transfer of funds from German taxpayers to UNRWA—an organization that employs a significant number of Hamas operatives and is regarded as a terrorist organization in Germany—will not advance the safety and well-being of the local population, including both Israelis and Palestinians, it continued.
Nonetheless, the Foreign Ministry continued by stating that it will keep collaborating “nearly with the German government through all channels to channel assistance to Gaza through other agencies.”
