Instagram Rolls Out Option To Schedule DMs

Instagram has introduced a new feature that allows users to schedule direct messages (DMs) for a later time, enhancing the app’s messaging experience.

As reported by The Verge, the feature enables users to schedule text-only messages, providing greater flexibility in communication. To use the feature, users can long-press the “send” button in a chat and choose the desired date and time for the message to be delivered.

Currently, the scheduling option is limited to text-based messages, with photos, videos, and GIFs still requiring real-time sending, according to The Verge.

Instagram’s support page explains that once a message is scheduled, a notification will appear in the chat, indicating the number of scheduled messages pending. Users can tap on the notice to view the scheduled message, and they also have the option to delete it or send it immediately by long-pressing it.

The feature allows messages to be scheduled up to 29 days in advance, as reported by The Verge.

This update is part of Instagram’s continuous efforts to improve its messaging platform, which already includes features like message editing, drawing on photos, and live location sharing, similar to functionalities found on Snapchat.
