CHANDIGARH: Haryana’s Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala on Monday said that the panchayat elections in the state would be held in February next year.
He said that the state government has sent some important bills to the Governor including 50 percent reservation to the women in the panchayat elections, 75 percent reservation for youth in the private sector, for his approval. Recently, a Bill giving 50 percent reservation to women was passed by the Assembly. He said that the day the Governor gives sanction to these bills, the state government would immediately write to the state election commission for holding the panchayats elections.
The Deputy CM was speaking to the reporters in Hisar. Chautala said that Covid-19 surge would be combated with strictness; however, he made it clear that there was no need for another lockdown right now. He said that the Covid-19 situation in Delhi is really worrisome and offered all possible help to Delhi in managing its spiralling pandemic cases.
He said that we all have to understand our responsibilities towards the societies and have to follow the Covid-related safety precautions, including wearing masks, maintaining social distancing, and washing hands frequently.
