Grid connectivity lights up Kundian and Pathroo villages in Keran, Kupwara

In a significant development, Kundian and Pathroo villages of the border block Keran in Kupwara district were illuminated with grid connectivity for the first time. The electrification milestone was marked by an e-inauguration ceremony organized by the District Administration Kupwara in the Mini Meeting Hall of D.C Office Complex Kupwara.

The e-inauguration ceremony, presided over by Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri, celebrated the accomplishment of providing electricity to these two villages. The Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Ms. Ayushi Sudan, JD Planning, Executive Engineer KPDCL Kupwara, BDC Chairperson Keran, and PRIs from the Keran area were present during the event.

Expressing his congratulations, Divisional Commissioner Bidhuri virtually interacted with the BDC Chairperson Keran and PRIs, highlighting the significance of this achievement. The Deputy Commissioner also lauded the accomplishment, describing it as a historical moment and a long-standing demand of the people in the Keran valley, now fulfilled by the Government.

PRIs expressed their gratitude towards the administration for bringing grid connectivity to the far-flung border area. The Executive Engineer KPDCL division Kupwara informed that Kundian and Pathroo villages were connected to grid supply under the Samirdh Seema Yojana for the first time since the country’s independence. Approximately 550 residents of Kundian and 750 residents of Pathroo village will benefit from the new grid supply.

In another development, CEO SSCL/Commissioner SMC, Athar Amir Khan, conducted a comprehensive review of ongoing smart city projects in Downtown Srinagar. The assessment covered various project sites, including Habba Kadal, Malaratta, Mahraj Gunj, Bohri Kadal, Zaina Kadal, Pather Masjid, and Nawab Bazar. The primary focus of the visit was to evaluate the progress of smart city projects in Downtown and ensure their timely completion. CEO SSCL emphasized effective coordination among stakeholders for seamless execution and urged the public to remain patient and supportive during the implementation of Smart City Projects.
