Governor commends women’s achievements across field

Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya emphasised the significant strides made by women in various fields today, urging parents to prioritise the education of their daughters. Speaking as the chief guest at the International Women’s Day event organized by the Women and Child Development Department in Panchkula, Governor Dattatreya highlighted the need for educating women to contribute to the progress of their homes, society, and country.

During the event, Minister of State for Women and Child Development, Kamlesh Dhanda, joined as a special guest. Governor Dattatreya inaugurated the programme by lighting the lamp and flagged off e-rickshaws provided to 11 women from Antyodaya families by the department.

Acknowledging women’s commendable contributions in areas such as gender ratio improvement, nutrition, and empowerment, the Governor, along with Minister Kamlesh Dhanda, presented appreciation letters, cash, and mementos to women sportspersons, government employees, social workers, and Anganwadi workers.

Governor Dattatreya commended the initiatives led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Manohar Lal for women’s empowerment, citing visible changes in society. He urged women to take a pledge on International Women’s Day to welcome the birth of daughters under any circumstances, citing historical examples of powerful women like Maharani Lakshmibai, Maharani Ahilyabai Holkar, and Rani Durgavati.

The Haryana Government’s commitment to women’s welfare and upliftment was highlighted, with various awards introduced to recognize achievements and promote courage among women. The Governor awarded District Deputy Commissioner Palwal Neha Singh the first prize of Rs 5 lakh for commendable improvement in sex ratio in 2023.

In categories such as nutritional improvement and various awards, individuals and districts were recognized, with monetary rewards ranging from Rs 50,000 to Rs 5 lakh. Notable recipients included Kaithal resident Vandana Sharma, Rewari resident Nandini, Panchkula resident Vandana Bhardwaj, and Gurugram resident Bhagwati Yadav.

Governor Dattatreya also honoured government employees, social workers, and players, recognizing their contributions to society. Joint Directors and other officials from the Women and Child Development Department were also acknowledged for their efforts. Minister Kamlesh Dhanda concluded by emphasizing that International Women’s Day is a day to honor and celebrate every woman.
