According to Bhutan Live, the role of women in Buddhism is becoming more evident in Bhutan as gender equality is being more recognized and cherished and the religious landscape is changing dramatically.
Women are now in responsibility of furthering children’s welfare, encouraging the establishment of moral organizations, and preserving all animals’ rights. Another element contributing to this confidence is the continuous growth of organizations such as the Sakyadhita yearly Association of Buddhist Women, which recently conducted its 18th annual conference in Korea.
The UN still considers gender equality to be the “unfinished business of our time and the greatest human rights challenge in our world.”
