Farmers indulged in violence with the police as they continue to protest outside a liquor factory in Ferozepur’s Zira In Punjab. Protestors said the factory will damage the sources of the area and impact the local habitat. People demanded a ban on the factory while protesting.
The protest began on July 24 which marked 146 days shut down for the factory until now. Several villagers from nearby areas sieged the main gate. The protestors blamed the unit for polluting the environment including groundwater, leading to low yield from the fields.
The dispute is ongoing around Malbros International Private Limited, an alcohol-making unit at Mansurwal village of the Zira assembly segment in Ferozepur.
