Don’t mind even if my career ‘goes to hell’: Rahul on LAC

Continuing his attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the issue of India-China Line of Actual Control (LAC) standoff in eastern Ladakh, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Monday said, “I do not mind if my whole career goes to hell, but I am not going to lie about the Indian territory”.

In a video message shared on his Twitter profile, Rahul Gandhi criticized the Modi government for lying to the nation. He said that those who are lying about the Chinese presence on India’s land are the ones who are not patriotic.

Referring to those who criticized him for his comments on the border standoff, he said, ‘I do not mind if my whole career goes to hell, but I am not going to lie about the Indian Territory.

In the video message, he further said, “As an Indian, my number one priority is the nation and its people. Now it’s pretty clear that the Chinese have entered our territory. It disturbs me. It makes my blood boil. How can some other nation just come into our territory?”

Along with the video message, he tweets, “The Chinese have occupied Indian land. Hiding the truth and allowing them to take it is anti-national. Bringing it to people’s attention is patriotic.”

Taking a dig at his critics, he said, “If you as a politician want me to keep quiet and lie to my people… when I have seen the satellite photos… I speak to Army people… If you want me to lie that the Chinese have not entered the country, I simply am not going to do it. I don’t mind even if my career goes to hell. I think the people who are lying about the Chinese not entering our country are the people who are not nationalists… they are not patriotic.”

The former Congress president has repeatedly targeted PM Modi and his government over Chinese transgression. He has been demanding that status quo ante be restored at the LAC and Chinese troops be pushed back to their side.

Rahul Gandhi’s latest video received sharp criticism from the BJP. While hitting back at Gandhi scion, BJP spokesperson G.V.L. Narasimha Rao said that he was again insulting the bravery of 20 soldiers who sacrificed their lives in Galwan Valley, and alleged that his family had ceded thousands of kilometers of land to China.

“Rahul Gandhi has not learned from his mistakes. He had insulted our soldiers at the time of the surgical strike, the Balakot airstrike and now again, he has insulted them.” G.V.L. said.
