According to the police, a couple was detained on Monday for defrauding senior citizens in Kanjahwala, Delhi, under the guise of giving them money.
The defendants were named as Shankar (36), and Ganga (22), respectively.
They were found in possession of two gold earrings, one gold ring, and one silver ring.
According to the police, an elderly woman reported a woman asking her whether her company hadn’t paid her money on July 26 of this year when she was standing near the Naraina Vihar Metro station.
She told the elderly woman that she had brought a bundle from her employer’s house, police added.
Later, a man approached the complainant and took her jewellery in exchange for a bundle of currency notes, which she later found to be fake, the police added.
