In the hope of winning the elections in Rajasthan, the Congress’s screening committee will meet again on Tuesday, in which the final shape will be given to the panels for all seats. After that, the next day, Wednesday, the meeting of the Central Election Committee will be held, in which the names will be given final shape with common consent on all seats. After this, the party will release the list of candidates according to its convenience.
On Monday, Congress is planning to start the ‘Jan Jagran Abhiyan’ regarding the Eastern Canal project. Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge will commence this campaign from today, and it will continue till 20 October. It is expected that Priyanka Gandhi will address the public meeting, concluding the ‘Jan Jagran Abhiyan’ in the Sikar district of Dausa on 20 October. Therefore, it is believed that Congress will release its first list after Priyanka’s rally.
Meanwhile, at the meeting under the chairmanship of Gaurav Gogai, the chairman of the Screening Committee, all the seats, including the major ones, have been fully discussed in the first round. In this meeting, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, State President Govind Singh Dotasra, former state president Sachin Pilot, etc., were present, who were members of the committee. As always, in a war room, while leaders sat inside and discussed, the leaders outside who were hoping for tickets seemed to be wavering.
CM Gehlot also met with some senior leaders after the meeting. The hopeful contenders were camping outside Jodhpur House, throughout the day, in an attempt to meet Chief Minister Gehlot. On Monday, Chief Minister Gehlot will visit Baran, where a massive election rally will be held to commence the Jan Jagran Abhiyan. The party’s president Kharge, along with senior leaders, will also address the election rally. The party is strategising to make the Eastern Canal project a big issue to win the voters of Eastern Rajasthan.
As for the list of candidates, the current senior leaders, including Chief Minister Gehlot, Speaker CP Joshi, State President Dotasra, Pilot, and some other ministers, along with twice-elected MLAs, are expected that the first list of more than 100 names may be released by the evening of the 20 October. The decisions relating to the ministers and other claimants involved in any controversies will be taken by the Central Election Committee.
