Canberra: S Jaishankar visits the Australian War Memorial

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar visited the Australian War Memorial in Canberra on Monday. Jaishankar also laid a wreath in honor of Private Nain Singh Sailani and others who made the supreme sacrifice.

Taking to Twitter S Jaishankar wrote, “Visited the Australian War Memorial in Canberra. Laid a wreath in honor of all those who made the supreme sacrifice including Private Nain Singh Sailani.”

Earlier on Monday Jaishankar arrived in Canberra to a “Tiranga welcome”. EAM will also hold talks with the top leadership of Australia to enhance bilateral cooperation.

Meanwhile, Australian Minister for Foreign Affairs Senator Hon Penny Wong welcomed External Affairs Minister to Sydney.

In a statement, the senator said, “We have a shared interest and a shared ambition in a stable and prosperous region where sovereignty is respected. For Australia, our partnership with India is a critical part of shaping the region we want.”

Both the leaders discussed accelerating and deepening economic ties, including through our Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement at the Foreign Ministers’ Framework Dialogue.

“We also discussed strengthening our people-to-people ties and education links, reinforcing our defense and security cooperation and enhancing our climate change and new clean energy engagement, including through the Quad,” Hon Penny Wong said in the statement.

Moreover, to expand our diplomatic footprints with Australia both of them agreed.

However, this year it’s EAM’s second visit to Australia. EAM made his first visit in February 2022 to attend the Quad Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Melbourne.
