War of words between Shah, Owaisi on 4% Muslim quota in Telangana

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday promised to end reservations for Muslims in Telangana if the BJP comes to power in the state.

He lashed out at religion-based reservations and called them ‘unconstitutional’, while he was speaking to the crowd at the rally held in Chevella, close to Hyderabad.

If the party is elected to power in Telangana, he claimed that the BJP will abolish the 4 percent Muslim quota and grant the right to Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, and other backward communities.

The Home Minister criticised the Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) government, accusing it of corruption in a number of projects, and declared that the saffron party will continue to battle until the “corrupt” government is “dethroned.”

He went on to say that the Telangana Centre’s charity schemes are not reaching the underprivileged.

Amit Shah blamed the Asaduddin Owaisi-led AIMIM’s “agenda” for being carried out in the state by the K. Chandrashekar Rao government.

“No government can run in Telangana whose steering is with Majlis (Owaisi). We are not afraid of Majlis. The government of Telangana will run for the people of the state. It will not run for Owaisi,” Mr Shah said.

Mr Owaisi reacted against the home minister’s pledge to end the Muslim quota in the state by claiming that the BJP has no plans for Telangana other than to engage in “anti-Muslim hate speech.”

In addition to hate speech towards Muslims, the BJP has no plan for Telangana. All they have to offer are fake encounters, surgical strikes on Hyderabad, curfews, the release of convicts, and bulldozers. Why do you hate Telangana residents so much? He questioned.

The state assembly election in Telangana is scheduled to take place later this year.
