According to a statement from a defence spokesperson, the Border Roads Task Force (BRTF) team of Project Himank swiftly mobilized resources and executed the rescue mission, averting a potential disaster. The Public Relations Officer for Leh, from the defence ministry’s Directorate of Public Relations, confirmed the successful operation in a post on X.
“Responding to an ITBP distress call, the 755 BRTF Team – Project Himank Leh mobilised resources in extreme weather to rescue four stranded vehicles at 17,000 feet in Zursar, averting a disaster,” stated the spokesperson, underscoring the challenging conditions under which the rescue was conducted.

The exact number of ITBP personnel aboard the stranded vehicles was not immediately disclosed.

In a separate incident, the Leh-based public relations officer highlighted another daring rescue operation conducted by the BRTF. Fifty personnel rescued a stranded trucker who was navigating Chang La pass at an elevation of 17,600 feet during Sunday-Monday night.
