On the second day of the ongoing winter session of the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly in Tapovan, the opposition party, BJP, was seen in an aggressive stance. Even before the session began, BJP legislators launched an attack concerning the government’s guarantee to purchase cow dung. Opposition lawmakers arrived at the Assembly carrying a sack of cow dung and protested vigorously against the Sukhu government.
Through this unique demonstration, BJP legislators reminded the government of their promise to buy cow dung at two rupees per kilogram and demanded its fulfilment. Opposition leader Jairam Thakur stated that before coming into power, the Congress government in Himachal had claimed to buy cow dung from the state’s farmers at two rupees per kilogram. However, even after a year, the state government has not fulfilled this guarantee. He mentioned that within a year, people’s cow dung has dried up, which is why they have come to the Assembly today. They intend to hand over the cow dung sack to the Chief Minister and inquire when the guarantee to purchase cow dung will finally be fulfilled.
He alleged that the Congress government misled people before coming into power by giving false guarantees. The opposition will not let these guarantees be forgotten and will repeatedly remind the government to fulfil them. He also stated that during the Assembly session, the opposition will question the government on each guarantee one by one.
It’s worth noting that yesterday, before the start of the winter session, BJP legislators had protested against the government by displaying banners mentioning these guarantees within the Assembly premises.”
