Maharashtra unit of BJP protested in different parts of the state against the alleged failure of the Maharashtra Vikas Aghadi government in curbing crime against women. State BJP chief Chandrakant Patil, senior leaders such as Ashish Shelar, former State Women Commission chief Vijaya Rahatkar, state vice-president Chitra Wagh, party’s chief spokesperson Keshav Upadhyay and many others participated in the protest which was named “Aakrosh”.

Protests happened in several parts of Mumbai, Pune, Aurangabad, thane and various other places.

State vice-president Chitra Wagh while speaking with ‘The Daily Guardian’ said, “Cases of atrocities against women are on the rise in Maharashtra, and the state government busy finding fault with other states.”

There is no initiative to fill up the post of state women’s commission head which is lying vacant for past several months, Chitra lamented. “We asked for facilities for Covid-19 quarantine centre, but it was not heeded yet. No steps have been taken for the safety of women and so today at Dadar’s Shivaji Park we all protested against the same ”, added Wagh.

“I took part in the Aakrosh protest in Thane as part of BJP’s protests in each district of Maharashtra against the rising cases of atrocities against women in the state, and submitted a memorandum to the district collector,” Ashish Shelar, a former state minister, tweeted.

Also, BJP’s state unit celebrated farm laws across the state with a tractor yatra from Varvand to Chaufula in Pune district. State President Chandrakant Patil participated in this yatra to welcome farm laws enacted by the Modi government.
