In compliance with the directives of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) submitted nomination papers for the Deputy Mayor and Senior Deputy Mayor positions in the Municipal Corporation elections.

Councillor Kuljit Singh Sandhu of Ward No. 14 was elected as Senior Deputy Mayor, while Councilor Rajendra Sharma of Ward No. 35, accompanied by party state president Jatinder Pal Malhotra, senior leaders, and party workers, filed nomination papers for the Deputy Mayor role at the Municipal Corporation office.

During the event, State President Jitendra Pal Malhotra extended congratulations to all the candidates and expressed optimism about their success. He emphasized that in accordance with the Supreme Court’s orders, BJP candidates refiled their nominations, asserting confidence in winning both elections. Malhotra pointed out that despite the Mayor being in the minority, BJP holds the majority in the Municipal Corporation, suggesting a lack of moral authority for the incumbent Mayor to retain the position.

Malhotra further highlighted the continuous progress of the country under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He stated that the BJP has consistently made meaningful efforts to contribute to this progress, and these efforts will persist in the future. Expressing full confidence, Malhotra asserted that the BJP is poised to secure victory in both posts.
The event was attended by State President Jitendra Pal Malhotra, former President Sanjay Tandon, Arun Sood, State Vice President Davinder Singh Babla, Kailash Chand Jain, Jagtar Singh Jagga, General Secretary Amit Jindal, Hukamchand, along with all councilors and other party workers.
