Due to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike in Hollywood, actor Billy Porter has been experiencing financial difficulties. Thousands of actors and artists are on strike with the Writers Guild of America in Hollywood and across the country, demanding a raise in compensation and residuals in the streaming era.
Porter has suffered financial losses as a result of the strike. He revealed to the Evening Standard that he had to make some cuts after some of his planned projects were put on hold when writers and actors went on strike, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
“I have to sell my house,” he told the outlet. “Because we’re on strike. And I don’t know when we’re gonna go back [to work]. The life of an artist, until you make fuck-you money — which I haven’t made yet — is still check-to-check. I was supposed to be in a new movie, and on a new television show starting in September. None of that is happening.”
