Kannada actor Chethan Kumar has been arrested and sent for judicial custody for 14 days, says police. Ranam fame actor has been nabbed by the Bengaluru Police in connection with a alleged offensive Tweet.

For those who are unversed, let us tell you, the actor was arrested by the authorities after a complaint was filed for his tweet, which reportedly says Hindutva was built on lies.

In his controversial tweet, the actor penned, “Hindutva is built on LIES.” The complaint was filed by Shivakumar of Bajrang Dal who complaints that the viral tweet which so far has received 14.2K Views, 103 Retweets and 384 Likes, has hurt sentiments of Hindus.

Who is Chethan Kumar?

Chethan Kumar who came in spot-light after appearing in a cult classic film Aa Dinagalu, is also known as Chetan Ahimsa. The cult classic of 2007 had earned him Udaya Film Awards in the category of best debut actor male.

The 40-year-old actor once again made headlines in 2013 after he appeared in a hit movie Myna. For his role in the film, he received strong critical acclaim. His notable work includes movies likes of Aa Dinagalu, Raam, Birugaali, Suryakaanti, Athiratha, Noorondu Nenapu, among many more.
