ADHIKARI SEEKS PANEL TO PREVENT ‘POLICE TERRORISM’

Leader of the opposition in the West Bengal Assembly and BJP MLA from Nandigram Suvendu Adhikari on Monday announced plans to form mass committees in every village in Nandigram to ‘prevent police misrule’ and alleged that BJP leaders are being harassed in false cases after the results of assembly polls.

“This committee will be formed in the same way as the Land Eviction Prevention Committee was formed in Nandigram in the Left era. That this committee will stand against police misrule in Nandigram,” he said at a contempt meeting.

The opposition leader further said that he plans to go to every village in Nandigram for 4 consecutive days from December 15 and form a mass committee with the local people.

Aiming at the Trinamool, the BJP MLA warned, “You are playing with fire in Nandigram because you do not know the past… There is no TMC without police.”

It may be mentioned that the Land Eviction Prevention Committee was formed in 2008 against the backdrop of the land movement in Nandigram. After 10 years of 2011 assembly vote, Nandigram is at the epicenter.

The MLA’s new strategy to stop that fight is to form a comittee with rural people. The issue of IC of the local Nandigram police station has come up again and again in the protest rally against the BJP workers alleging police torture.

“Arresting BJP karyakartas in false cases due to political vendetta have caused great resentment amongst the people of Nandigram who gathered today to protest against the atrocities of Police & TMC.

Nandigram always have been the epicenter of uprising & soon it’d spread elsewhere,” he wrote in a tweet on Monday.

He further alleged that BJP workers were being framed in multiple cases with the help of police through networking from the IC of the police station.
