A laborer died, and 18 others went missing near the India-China border in the Kurung Kume district of Arunachal Pradesh since July 5. The laborers were engaged in road construction and had been missing for the last 14 days.
All 19 have been missing from the project site since July 5, and the body of a laborer was found in a nearby river.
Bengia, the deputy commissioner of Kurung Kumey district, said, “A police team and the Circle officer of Damin have moved towards the site today morning. The laborers were engaged in a road construction work at Huri area under Damin circle.”
Moreover, most of the missing labourers belong to the Muslim community, and they might have left the site on July 5 to celebrate Eid.
However, the Deputy Commissioner of Kurung Kumey district said they received the missing laborer’s information from the contractor of the road project. The inquiry has been initiated into the matter.
