World mental health day!

First of all let me wish you good mental health and peace on the occasion of World Mental Health Day. People always talk about physical fitness which is right but at the same we need to take care of our mental fitness as well. If our minds are not well, physical fitness alone will not help.
There are many ways you can take care of your mental fitness and the best one among them is through Meditation. We now see people in the west taking keen interest in meditation which is a gift of Sanatana Dharma to the world. Be it Vedas, Upanishads, Itihaas, Puranas all the scriptures advocate Dhyana or meditation to stay mentally fit, calm and centered.
Meditation is very effortless especially if you learn Sudarshan Kriya, a rhythmic breathing practice cognized by spiritual master Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar in 1981 being practiced by over 500 million prople in over 180 countries, that immediately calms the mind, energizes your body and mind and gives you deep peace and sense of lightness.
Meditation is the journey through seven levels of existence- body, bresth, mind, intellect, memory, ego to the highest Self or Atman, as per Gurudev. Many Yogis have achieved Moksha through meditation itself.
Now let’s see what scriptures say about Meditation. Will start with Bhagwat Gita. As per 6th Chapter of Bhagwat Gita, Krishna ji says: One who wishes to destroy all the vices must practice meditation. One has to forget their smaller identities if they are seeking to know their inner self. You have to stop to let your mind and senses control your body. One should follow certain principles while practicing Dhyan or Meditation. The environment should be clean plus you should always sit on a clean cloth. The mind, instead of wavering should concentrate on a point in front (Nostril). Your posture should be erect. You’re eating habits should be moderate. One who sleeps more cannot be a Yogi. Proper meditation makes one calm and feel peaceful within. This is the road to self-realization. You are now rid of sorrows and sufferings. Arjun questions that how can one have total restraint on a mind since this is next to impossible. Krishna replies that it may seem difficult but it is not impossible. You should practice restraint and lead a much disciplined life. Arjun asks Krishna ji that can people practice self- restraint but have no faith to achieve peace. To this Krishna ji replies that good deeds are never wasted. These good deeds will definitely lead one towards more goodness which in turn will make them achieve peace in later life. One should practice the stressed that guidelines of pure meditation to achieve harmony guidelines of pure me with inner self. Knowing your innerself makes your Atma one with Parmatma. Once you are completely free of worldly thoughts and notions, you realize that you are not just Atma but you are everywhere as the ultimate Parmatma.
As per Swami Anjani Nandan Dass, Bhagwan Shiva and Bhagwan Vishnu generate their power through Meditation. If you need Power then you have to Meditate hard. All the Deities also choose meditation path to increase their power.
As mentioned earlier if you really want to practice Meditation through practical and effortless manner then you need to start with Sudarshan Kriya as this is the easiest method of getting into the state of meditation.
