Only 6.8% active Covid cases, 91.6% recovery rate: Health Ministry

India’s Covid-19 caseload crossed the 82-lakh mark, while the number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 75.44 lakh, pushing the national recovery rate to 91.68%. The active Covid cases are 6.8%. India has reported a daily jump of 46,441 Covid-19 cases, even the tally has soared to 8,242,161. The country’s death toll has mounted to 122,752.

The national capital recorded 4,001 fresh Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking the infection tally to over 3.96 lakh, even as the positivity rate hovered around 11%. Delhi had recorded over 5,000 daily cases for five days on the trot. Forty-two new fatalities were recorded, pushing the death toll to 6,604.

Worst-affected Maharashtra’s Covid-19 tally rose to 16,87,784 with the state reporting 4,009 new cases in the last 24 hours. With 104 fresh deaths, the state’s fatality count rose to 44,128. A total of 10,225 patients were discharged from hospitals, which took the number of recovered persons to 15,24,304. There are 1,18,777 active cases in the state at present.

Gujarat reported 875 new Covid-19 cases, increasing its tally to 1,74,679. The state recorded the death of four more Covid patients, pushing the count to 3,728. At the same time, 1,004 patients were discharged from hospitals, raising the number of recovered cases to 1,58,251.

The Covid-19 death toll in Haryana rose to 1,810 with 15 more fatalities, while 1,566 fresh cases pushed the caseload to 1,70,446. The total number of active cases in the state currently stands at 12,919 while the recovery rate is 91.36%.

As far as Himachal Pradesh is concerned, the total number of Covid-19 cases in the state stands at 22,598 including 2,958 active cases, 19,279 recoveries, and 330 deaths so far.

Karnataka, second worst-hit state, reported 2,576 new cases of Covid-19, 8,334 discharges, and 29 deaths in the last 24 hours. This takes the total number of cases to 8,29,640 including 44,805 active cases, 7,73,595 discharges, and 11,121 deaths.

Tamil Nadu’s active Covid-19 cases dropped below the 20,000-mark with the state reporting 2,481 cases, and 31 deaths in the last 24 hours. Recoveries outnumbered new cases, with 3,940 people being cured of the virus. With the addition of 2,481 cases on Monday, the state’s overall tally of the dreaded virus touched 7,29,507. The number of active cases including those in isolation is 19,504.
