In a statement, former Indian cricketer Parthiv Patel stated that the Rajasthan Royals (RR) would have chosen someone else at the Indian Premier League (IPL) Auction 2024 if the Caribbean had not existed.
Speaking at Jio Cinema, Parthiv said that the Caribbean batter was the reason behind the frenzy surrounding the beginning of the IPL 2024 auction.

“Powell’s was the first name at the auction. So, we got to see something different. You don’t get to see such excitement at the start itself. But with Powell, that happened. Timing plays a crucial role. Franchises are not wanting to wait and watch. If they find someone who can secure their expectations, they go for him. If he was not available, then maybe they would have targeted someone else,” Patel said.

Kolkata Knight Riders made the first bid for Powell, who had set his base price at Rs 1 crore. The Rajasthan Royals entered the race for Powell.
Powell won an incredible Rs 7.4 crore as the captain of the Barbados Royals in the CPL. Kolkata made a strong bid, but Rajasthan beat them to get the batter’s services.

Harry Brook, a former England skipper, has been linked with the Delhi Capitals (DC) after scoring 1,202 runs in 66 T20Is. Former England skipper Eoin Morgan believes that Delhi’s offer of Rs 4 crores for a quality player like Brook is a bargain, but believes that Delhi won’t suit Brook as much as other Indian places. Brook is a middle-order batter, and Delhi’s fitness levels around Anrich Nortje might depend on the team’s balance and pitch conditions.
