Following the assassination of gangster-politician Atiq Ahmad and his brother Ashraf, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath warned on Tuesday that “mafias can no longer threaten anyone in the state.

“Those who were a threat to UP before now UP is a threat to them,” he added. Yogi Aditynath said while speaking at a function “Before 2017, the law and order in the state was not good, but after that, there is a rule of law in the state.

From 2017 to 2023, there have been no riots in Uttar Pradesh; there was no need for a curfew.” Yogi’s remarks come as Atiq’s son Asad was killed in a police encounter last week in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh.
