The Punjab government has sent a notice to State Principal Health Secretary Ajoy Sharma, seeking his explanation for obtaining information on Sidhu Moosewala’s family’s IVF treatment without informing CM Bhagwant Mann or the state Health Minister beforehand.

The notice cited the Rules of Business, 1992, and emphasized the need to inform the Minister-in-charge and the Chief Minister before taking action. Sharma has been given two weeks to respond, with potential disciplinary action under consideration.

Earlier, the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare had requested a report from the Punjab government regarding the IVF treatment of Sidhu Moosewala’s mother, Charan Kaur, citing the Assisted Reproductive Technology (Regulation) Act, 2021. Moosewala’s father expressed frustration over the inquiry on Facebook, stating he possessed all legal documents.

The AAP Punjab unit blamed the central government for requesting the IVF treatment documents, emphasizing CM Bhagwant Mann’s respect for Punjabi sentiments. The Ministry of Health & Family Welfare order is based on Section 21 of the ART (Regulations) Act, 2021, outlining the duties of assisted reproductive technology clinics and banks, including age limits for recipients.
