Northern Army Commander reviews operational preparedness in Rajouri

The Northern Army Commander, Lieutenant General Upendra Dwivedi, AVSM, undertook a visit to the forward areas in the Rajouri Sector to assess the operational preparedness in light of the prevailing security situation. During his visit, a comprehensive review, known as ‘Manthan,’ was conducted with the officers of Counter Insurgency Force (R) {CIF (R)}, CIF (D), and Ace of Spades Division. The focus was on analyzing the operational dynamics of 2023 and understanding the current security situation along the Line of Control (LC) and the hinterland at HQ CIF (R) & Reasi.

Reviewing the complete pattern of terrorism, Lt Gen Dwivedi emphasized the importance of a deep understanding of the evolving landscape. He outlined ‘Strat 24’ for operational focus in 2024 to counter the adversary’s designs and defeat sponsored terrorists. The Army Commander also chaired a ‘Security Review Meeting,’ where he praised the excellent synergy among security forces, Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP), CRPF, Intelligence Agencies, and Civil Administration.

During discussions with key officials, including DGP J&K, Shri RR Swain, ADG Law & Order, Shri Vijay Kumar, ADG Shri Anand Jain, and IG CRPF Shri Sanjeev Khirwar, strategic plans for the revitalization of operations in 2024 were outlined. All stakeholders affirmed their commitment to working in synergy to eradicate the roots of terrorism in the Poonch–Rajouri Area.
The Army Commander commended the outreach efforts by the formation to the local population in Rajouri and Poonch districts. He appreciated the initiative of adopting Pir Topa as a Model Village under Sadbhavana, emphasizing that this endeavour should integrate the aspirations of the local community and contribute to comprehensive socio-economic development.

Accompanied by White Knight Corps Commander Lt Gen Navin Sachdeva, AVSM, SM, the Army Commander visited a forward post in the Rajouri Sector. He received a briefing on the operational preparedness of the units deployed along the Line of Control. Lt Gen Dwivedi commended the troops for their high morale and round-the-clock vigilance to thwart attempts by terrorists to disrupt peace in the region. He urged them to maintain their dedication, ensuring a stable security environment for continued developmental activities in the area.
