Netanyahu Slams Macron’s Arms Embargo Call as “Shame” Amid Rising Tensions

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has vehemently criticized French President Emmanuel Macron’s recent call for an arms embargo against Israel, describing it as a “shame.” In a video statement released on Saturday, Netanyahu expressed his outrage over Macron’s position, along with similar calls from other Western leaders.

Netanyahu insisted that “all civilized countries” should support Israel in its fight against what he termed “forces of barbarism” led by Iran. He questioned the logic behind these leaders advocating for an embargo while Iran continues to supply arms to militant groups such as Hezbollah and Hamas.

He framed the conflict as a broader struggle for civilization against radical forces, asserting that while Israel faces threats on multiple fronts—from Gaza to Lebanon, and from Yemen to Syria—Western leaders should stand firmly by Israel’s side.

In his remarks, Netanyahu detailed Israel’s ongoing military challenges, citing multiple fronts where it is engaged, including recent violent incidents attributed to Hamas. He vowed that Israel would achieve victory, with or without international support, and criticized those calling for an arms embargo as complicit in the rise of terrorism.

In response, Macron emphasized the importance of an immediate ceasefire in the region, while his office reaffirmed France’s commitment to Israel’s security but justified the embargo as a necessary measure to prevent further escalation and promote peace.
