The Noida Police has registered a case under the Uttar Pradesh Gangsters and Anti-Social Activities (Prevention) Act against 18 individuals in connection with the Mahadev App case. Commissioner of Police Lakshmi Singh took action after filing the case at the Sector 39 police station and subsequently wrote to the government urging a ban on the app.

The Mahadev Book Online Betting App syndicate is currently under investigation by the Directorate of Enforcement (ED). The ED alleges that the promoters of this betting syndicate, situated abroad, are remotely operating numerous panels across India with the assistance of friends and associates.

So far, the ED has arrested four individuals, seized proceeds of crime worth over Rs 450 Crore, and filed a prosecution complaint against 14 suspects. The ED received intelligence input on November 2 about a significant cash movement in Chhattisgarh related to the Assembly Elections scheduled for November 7 and 17, 2023.

ED’s searches in Bhilai led to intercepting a cash courier, Asim Das, allegedly sent from the UAE to deliver a substantial amount of cash for electioneering expenses of the ruling Congress Party. Startling allegations have emerged from Das’s questioning and forensic examination of his phone, implicating Mahadev App promoters in regular payments, amounting to around Rs 508 Crore, to Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel.

Responding to the allegations, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel accused the BJP of accepting defeat in Chhattisgarh and predicted that central agencies would resume raids before the Lok Sabha election. Chhattisgarh is undergoing Assembly elections in two phases, with the second phase scheduled for November 17.
