After becoming infected with the Nipah virus, all educational institutions in Kozhikode, Kerala, would be closed for a week, until the following Sunday, September 24.

This covers educational institutions like schools, colleges, and tuition-charging facilities.
On Friday, the district administration announced that online lessons will be available every day of the week.

Veena George, the minister of health, reported that 130 more names had been added to the list of contacts for sick people, bringing the total to 1,080. The list includes 327 health professionals out of the total.

The contact list of those with Nipah infection includes a total of 29 people from other districts. 22 of them are from Malappuram, one is from Wayanad, three are from Kannur, and one is from Thrissur, according to Veena George.

175 regular people and 122 healthcare professionals fall under the high-risk category.
The health minister added that since the test result of the individual who passed away on August 30 was positive, making them the district’s index case for Nipha, the number of people on the contact list is expected to grow.

Six Nipah Virus positive cases have been documented in the state as of this writing.
17 individuals who had attended the cremation of the man who passed away on August 30 were placed in isolation. Four of the ongoing cases are being treated in hospitals.

Every hospital that is handling Nipah cases should set up a medical board that will meet twice daily and turn in a report to the health department. Based on the state’s regulations for controlling infectious diseases, the district collector has issued orders in this respect.
