The National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted raids at many places in Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday. Raids have been conducted in Jammu, Kathua, Samba, and Doda districts. This raid has been done in the matter of supplying arms through drones in the state.

Meanwhile, NIA officials were also seen outside the house of the main accused Faisal Munir. Earlier, last month Munir was arrested.

On the morning of 17 August, the police recovered arms and ammunition from Jammu’s Toph village. The consignment was dropped by a drone into India from the Pakistan side.

“Though no recovery was made at the first place but at the second place in Toph village (near the International Border) in Phallian Mandal area, a packet of arms, ammunition and explosives were recovered. When the packet was being opened, the accused attacked one of the police officials and snatched his service rifle. He fired at the police party and tried to flee from the spot,” ADGP Mukesh Singh said.

The police had registered a case at Arnia police station on 24 February in connection with the sending of weapons by drones. One of the accused in this case had told the police that Mohammad Ali Hussain alias Qasim controls the sending of weapons. This work is done by the main terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Al Badr.

“In retaliation, the accused got injured and was shifted to Government Medical College Jammu along with an injured police official. The injured terrorist later succumbed to his injuries,” said the official.

In the last few months the Jammu and Kashmir Police have made several arrests in connection with the sending of weapons to India by drones.

However, more details into the matter are awaited.
